Velanidia of Koumeika is a small coastal hamlet on the southern shore of Samos, nestled in the Bay of Marathokampos.
It sits at an altitude of around 16 meters and lies approximately 15 km south of Neo Karlovasi.
Administratively, it belongs to the Municipal Unit of Marathokampos in the Municipality of Western Samos.

According to the 2021 census, Velanidia has 19 permanent residents.
The settlement was officially recognized as a distinct entity in 1991, when it was listed under the community of Koumeika.


๐Ÿ›๏ธ Administrative History

Velanidia is part of the Koumeika community, which also includes the main village of Koumeika and the nearby coastal area of Ormos Koumeikon.
Since the implementation of the Kallikratis reform in 2011, it has been incorporated into the Municipality of Western Samos.

Surrounded by lush greenery, Velanidia takes its name from the local oak trees ("velanidia" in Greek).
